Acceptance of Credit Cards for Rent Payments Bill Signed Into Law

Last week, Governor Murphy signed A-4182/S-2873 requiring landlords to allow tenants to make rent payments using a credit card during COVID-19 as well as for one year following the end of the emergency into law. This law is effective immediately.  Landlords may hold a tenant responsible for transaction fees associated with card acceptance.
