On Wednesday, September 14, 2011 the Property Owners Association will feature, “Hot Topics in Fair Housing.” The presentation to be made by Christopher J. Hanlon, Esq. of the law firm Hanlon Niemann, P.C., will touch on the fundamental principles of Fair Housing law but it will primarily focus on a more advanced consideration of issues that owners and managers face related to screening and lease enforcement as a result of the changing demographic makeup of your resident and applicant populations. Mr. Hanlon has decades of experience in representing property owners and managers who must deal with Fair Housing and other issues on a day to day basis.
Some of the issues that will be explored include:
- Sexual Orientation
- Immigrants both legal and illegal
- National Origin
- Disabilities
- Non obvious disabilities
- Mental disabilities
- Reasonable accommodations
- Related screening issues
